Tanzania safari
Short on time but set on a safari together? Six days is enough to see the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater properly, and this honeymoon does it without rushing the start. You spend your first two nights at a luxury hotel in Arusha, with a slow morning and a gentle game drive in Arusha National Park before the longer days begin.
Everything travels by road, in a 4×4 Land Cruiser with your guide, so there are no small-plane luggage limits to worry about. The drive west to the Serengeti is long, but it crosses the Ngorongoro highlands and ends on the plains in time for lunch. Two nights there are followed by a full day in the crater and a night in a lodge overlooking it, then a market stop in Arusha before your flight home.
With no internal flights and five nights rather than a week or more, it is the most affordable way Tanzania Tourism Safaris offers to combine a honeymoon with the northern parks. You still get the little extras for newlyweds: a room welcome of bubbly, fruit or flowers, a private breakfast, and candlelit and lantern-lit dinners along the way.
A driver meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport for the transfer to Arusha, about an hour away. Your hotel is a calm base for two nights, so you can unpack properly and rest after the journey. Spend the rest of the day by the pool or in the garden, and have an early dinner. Let us know before you travel if there is anything special you would like to plan for the days ahead, such as a surprise for your partner.
Sleep in and take a long breakfast. Later, your guide drives you into Arusha National Park, a small, green park on the slopes of Mount Meru. Game drives here pass through forest and open glades where giraffes, buffalo, zebras and black-and-white colobus monkeys live. The Momella Lakes are a highlight, and flamingos often gather on their shallow water. Return to the hotel in the evening for a romantic dinner for two.
Leave Arusha early for the longest drive of the trip. The road climbs through farmland and into the forested Ngorongoro highlands, then drops down to the open plains of the Serengeti, a name that comes from the Maasai word for endless land. You arrive at your lodge or camp around lunchtime. After a rest, head out on your first game drive, looking for lions, elephants, giraffes and the many kinds of antelope.
Today is a full day in the park. If you are traveling when the wildebeest migration is nearby, your guide will try to bring you close to the herds and the predators that follow them. At other times of year, the Serengeti’s resident lions, cheetahs, hyenas and elephants keep the day busy. Take lunch out on the plains. In the evening, a candlelit dinner is set for the two of you back at camp.
Leave the Serengeti after an early breakfast and drive back across the plains to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend the crater wall to its floor, a natural bowl full of buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, lions, hyenas and elephants, and one of the best places in Tanzania to see black rhino. Your picnic lunch is eaten on the crater floor. In the late afternoon, climb back out and check in to your lodge on the rim.
Have breakfast with a last view over the crater, then drive back to Arusha through the highland farms. In town, there is time to visit a local market to pick up fabrics, carvings or coffee to take home. After lunch, your driver takes you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight. If you would like to add a few days on Zanzibar before heading home, we can plan the extension for you.

It is enough to see the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater without feeling rushed, because the first two days are deliberately calm. If you have more time, the most popular additions are an extra Serengeti night or a few days on Zanzibar at the end. Both are easy to add.
Day 3, from Arusha to the Serengeti, is the longest and takes much of the morning. Day 5, from the Serengeti to the crater, and day 6, back to Arusha, are shorter but still several hours each. Your guide stops for photographs and breaks, and the road passes through wildlife areas, so drives often turn into game viewing.
It is shorter, and it uses no internal flights, which are a large part of the cost of fly-in trips. You still stay in comfortable hotels, lodges and camps, travel with an English-speaking guide, and receive the same honeymoon touches. It suits couples who want a real safari on a tighter budget.

Excellent Trip of a Lifetime
Our family had the trip of a lifetime over the holidays. Our guides were amazing and always checked to make sure that we had everything we needed. In less than 2 weeks we got to do a short safari in Ngorongoro Crater, did a family visit as part of the cultural experience (my kids are still talking about how good the food was!!), visited Moshi for shopping, went to Dar Es Salaam and did a 2 day trip to Zanzibar. The logistics were all very smooth and the guides added humor and levity to the entire trip. We were in good hands and will never forget the hospitality shown to us while there. The best thing about the packages is that you can work with the team to tailor it to your exact timeline. We had to get back to work and school so opted for a short Christmas trip but we'll eventually go back to do a longer summer trip. Forever indebted for such a great experience!
Trip of a life time!! But why not go back?
BEST VACATION!!!! Eye opening, amazing, Beautiful and REAL. The safari was my favorite part. Seeing animals you learn about and dream of seeing right in front of your face. The food was great I ask you to be open and not get your norm. Safe? Yes. Of course there’s times you question a new country, area and people. There was never a moment I was in question of people or my surroundings. Next time I’m bring my kids they’re older and can help pay… hahaha. I heard it’s best not to go during the rainy Season it’s just easier and more enjoyable to get around. Just what people have said.
Great experience
Had a wonderful Safari experience in Nothern Tanzania. Got to see some Lions very closely. Best experience in a very long time tbh.
