Tanzania safari
Most safaris move on every night or two. This one stays put, which suits couples who would rather unpack once and settle in. After a first night in a private villa near Arusha, you fly to the Western Corridor of the Serengeti for three nights at a luxury tented camp on a plateau above the plains, then fly on to Zanzibar for six nights at an all-inclusive luxury resort on the island’s northwest coast.
The Western Corridor is a long arm of the park reaching toward Lake Victoria. It sees fewer visitors than the central plains, and early in the dry season the migration herds pass through on their way north, crossing the Grumeti River, home to some very large crocodiles. Outside that window you still find resident lions, elephants, giraffes and plenty of plains game, with few other vehicles around.
Tanzania Tourism Safaris books every flight and transfer, and adds honeymoon touches including a room welcome of bubbly, fruit or flowers, private breakfasts and a lantern-lit dinner. With six beach nights and no long drives, this trip leaves plenty of room to rest.
Your driver meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport for a transfer of roughly 40 minutes to a private villa outside Arusha. With the house to yourselves, the first evening is entirely yours: unpack, sit out in the garden and let the jet lag fade. Keep your luggage light for tomorrow’s small-plane flight, and if you have questions about the days ahead, our team is a phone call away at any hour.
After breakfast, transfer to Arusha’s airport for a scheduled light-aircraft flight west to an airstrip in the Serengeti’s Western Corridor. Your guide meets the plane and drives you to camp, set on a natural rise with long views over the plains below. Have lunch on the deck and rest in your tent, then head out in the late afternoon for a first drive to get your bearings among the acacia woodland and open grass.
Spend a full day exploring the corridor with your guide. Follow the Grumeti River, lined with tall forest, to look for black-and-white colobus monkeys, hippos and the big Nile crocodiles that lie in its pools. On the open plains, lions, topi and giraffes are regular sightings. If your visit falls while the migration is passing through, usually between late May and July, the day may be spent following the herds. A picnic lunch keeps you out until the afternoon.
Your final full day on safari can be as active or as gentle as you like. Some couples go out at dawn and stay out until the light goes; others take a morning drive, then spend the afternoon on the camp deck with binoculars, watching animals cross the plain below. Ask your guide about corners of the corridor you have not covered yet. In the evening, a lantern-lit dinner closes your time in the bush.
Take an early game drive if you wish, then head to the airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar. On the island, a driver meets you for the trip north to your resort, set on a white beach on the northwest coast. The tide here moves less than on the east side of the island, so swimming is possible for much of the day. Check in, kick off your shoes and let the next six days take care of themselves.
The first full day on the island is for settling in. With an all-inclusive plan, meals and drinks are taken care of, so the only decisions are where to lie down and when to swim. Walk along the sand toward Nungwi, where boat builders still shape wooden dhows by hand on the beach. In the evening, find a spot facing west: this side of the island looks out over the water toward the sunset.
Nungwi, at the northern tip of the island, is a short trip from the resort. In the village, a natural tidal lagoon is home to sea turtles that are cared for and later released into the ocean, and a visit makes an easy, gentle outing. Afterward, wander the lanes of the fishing village or return to the beach. The resort can arrange this and other excursions; ask us which are part of your package.
The waters around northern Zanzibar are known for their reefs, and Mnemba Atoll, off the northeast coast, is one of the island’s best-known spots for snorkeling and diving. A morning boat trip can bring sightings of reef fish, turtles and sometimes dolphins. Certified divers can book one or two dives with a local dive center. Back at the resort, the afternoon is for drying off in the sun and a late lunch by the pool.
No plans today. Start with a private breakfast, one of the honeymoon touches arranged for you, and see where the day goes. You might book a massage, paddle a kayak along the shore or sleep in the shade with a book. If you are curious about the island’s history, a day trip to Stone Town, with its carved doors, markets and waterfront gardens, can be arranged on request. Dinner is at the resort, under a sky full of stars.
Your last full day on Zanzibar. Spend the morning doing whatever you have enjoyed most so far, whether that is one more snorkel or another long swim. Late in the afternoon, consider a sunset dhow cruise along the coast, a calm way to watch the sky change color with a drink in hand; it can be arranged on request. Back on shore, pack slowly and enjoy a final dinner together before your last night by the sea.
Have breakfast and, if your flight is later in the day, lunch at the resort before your private transfer south to Zanzibar’s international airport, a drive of a little over an hour. Our team remains reachable around the clock until you are checked in, so any change to your flight is dealt with quickly. Kwaheri, which is Swahili for goodbye, and safe travels home.

Staying three nights in one camp means less packing and more time with your guide in a single landscape. The Western Corridor has room for that, with river forest, open plains and wooded hills, and fewer vehicles than the central Serengeti. If you would like to add the Ngorongoro Crater or a second camp, we can extend the safari.
The migration herds usually move through between late May and July, when Grumeti River crossings are possible. Resident wildlife is present all year. Rates are lowest from March to May, which overlaps with the long rains, and highest from June to October and over the Christmas and New Year holidays.
For a honeymoon, most couples find it about right: the first day or two go on recovering from early safari starts, and the rest feel like a true holiday. If you prefer more variety, we can split the stay, for example with two nights in Stone Town and four on the beach. Tell us what you have in mind.

Excellent Trip of a Lifetime
Our family had the trip of a lifetime over the holidays. Our guides were amazing and always checked to make sure that we had everything we needed. In less than 2 weeks we got to do a short safari in Ngorongoro Crater, did a family visit as part of the cultural experience (my kids are still talking about how good the food was!!), visited Moshi for shopping, went to Dar Es Salaam and did a 2 day trip to Zanzibar. The logistics were all very smooth and the guides added humor and levity to the entire trip. We were in good hands and will never forget the hospitality shown to us while there. The best thing about the packages is that you can work with the team to tailor it to your exact timeline. We had to get back to work and school so opted for a short Christmas trip but we'll eventually go back to do a longer summer trip. Forever indebted for such a great experience!
Trip of a life time!! But why not go back?
BEST VACATION!!!! Eye opening, amazing, Beautiful and REAL. The safari was my favorite part. Seeing animals you learn about and dream of seeing right in front of your face. The food was great I ask you to be open and not get your norm. Safe? Yes. Of course there’s times you question a new country, area and people. There was never a moment I was in question of people or my surroundings. Next time I’m bring my kids they’re older and can help pay… hahaha. I heard it’s best not to go during the rainy Season it’s just easier and more enjoyable to get around. Just what people have said.
Great experience
Had a wonderful Safari experience in Nothern Tanzania. Got to see some Lions very closely. Best experience in a very long time tbh.
