Tanzania safari
Three nights in a single Serengeti lodge sit at the center of this honeymoon, and they change how a safari feels. You unpack once, settle into the place, and head out each morning with your guide to wherever the lions, leopards and cheetahs happen to be. A one-hour charter flight from Arusha takes you straight onto the plains, so the longest road day of a typical northern safari simply disappears.
On the way home you travel by road, which lets you see the country change. A last game drive leads out of the Serengeti and up to a luxury lodge on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Staying right on the rim means you can be on the crater floor early, before most vehicles arrive. After a visit to a nearby village you return to Arusha for a final night.
Tanzania Tourism Safaris plans small extras for newlyweds along the way, such as a welcome of bubbly, fruit or flowers in your room, a private breakfast and a lantern-lit dinner. Meals come with local beer, wine and soft drinks, and the trip can start on any day of the week.
Your guide or our representative meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and drives you to Arusha, a trip of roughly an hour. Your hotel is a quiet place to land after a long flight, with gardens, a pool and a good restaurant. There is nothing on the schedule today, so take a walk among the trees, book a massage if the hotel has a spa, or simply sleep. Over dinner, your guide can run through the plan for the week.
After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for a charter flight of about an hour. From the small window you watch farmland give way to highlands and then to open grass. A guide meets you on landing and takes you to your lodge, looking for wildlife on the way. Settle in over lunch, rest through the hottest hours, then set out on your first afternoon drive. Back at the lodge, dinner is followed by drinks around the fire.
The Serengeti is one of the best places in Africa to watch lions, leopards and cheetahs, and today is given to finding them. Leave early, when the cats are most active and the light is soft. Your guide reads the signs: vultures circling, alarm calls from impala, a herd of zebras all staring the same way. Leopards often rest in the branches along the rivers, while cheetahs prefer open ground. Return for lunch or take a picnic and stay out longer.
With a third night at the same lodge, today can take any shape you like. Some couples spend the whole day out, crossing grassland, woodland and the forest that lines the rivers in search of elephants, giraffes, buffalo and hippos. Others go out at dawn, come back for a long lunch and a swim, and head out again late in the afternoon. Depending on the month, you may also find large herds of wildebeest and zebras grazing nearby.
Make the most of a final morning on the plains, with a hot packed lunch so you can keep looking for that last sighting. Then follow the road out of the Serengeti, across short-grass country and up into the green, cool highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Your lodge stands on the rim of the crater, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Watch the light fade over the caldera, then warm up by the fire, as the nights here are cool.
Because your lodge sits on the rim, you can reach the descent road early and enjoy the crater floor while it is still quiet. Elephants, lions, buffalo, hyenas and large herds of zebras and wildebeest live here, and the crater is one of the few places in Tanzania where black rhino are seen. Later, visit a local community to learn about family life, food and traditions. In the afternoon, drive back to Arusha for your last night.
Your final morning has no early start. Take a long breakfast, and if your flight leaves later in the day, stay on for lunch with Mount Meru rising behind the town on a clear day. At the agreed time, your driver takes you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home or on to your next stop. Many couples add a few nights on Zanzibar at this point; ask us and we will quote the extension.

The drive from Arusha to the Serengeti takes most of a day, so the flight gives you an extra afternoon of game viewing. Coming back by road makes sense because the Ngorongoro Crater lies on the way. You see the highlands, the crater and village life, and the drive itself becomes part of the safari.
That depends on the month. The herds move around the Serengeti through the year, and they are not always near the lodge. The big cats, elephants and other resident animals are there in every season. If the migration matters most to you, tell us your travel dates and we will suggest the best area and camp for that time.
Yes. Zanzibar is a short flight from Kilimanjaro or Arusha, and many couples finish with a few nights by the sea. We can adjust the last day so you fly to the island instead of heading home, and we will quote the beach nights and flight separately.

Excellent Trip of a Lifetime
Our family had the trip of a lifetime over the holidays. Our guides were amazing and always checked to make sure that we had everything we needed. In less than 2 weeks we got to do a short safari in Ngorongoro Crater, did a family visit as part of the cultural experience (my kids are still talking about how good the food was!!), visited Moshi for shopping, went to Dar Es Salaam and did a 2 day trip to Zanzibar. The logistics were all very smooth and the guides added humor and levity to the entire trip. We were in good hands and will never forget the hospitality shown to us while there. The best thing about the packages is that you can work with the team to tailor it to your exact timeline. We had to get back to work and school so opted for a short Christmas trip but we'll eventually go back to do a longer summer trip. Forever indebted for such a great experience!
Trip of a life time!! But why not go back?
BEST VACATION!!!! Eye opening, amazing, Beautiful and REAL. The safari was my favorite part. Seeing animals you learn about and dream of seeing right in front of your face. The food was great I ask you to be open and not get your norm. Safe? Yes. Of course there’s times you question a new country, area and people. There was never a moment I was in question of people or my surroundings. Next time I’m bring my kids they’re older and can help pay… hahaha. I heard it’s best not to go during the rainy Season it’s just easier and more enjoyable to get around. Just what people have said.
Great experience
Had a wonderful Safari experience in Nothern Tanzania. Got to see some Lions very closely. Best experience in a very long time tbh.
It was an amazing experience!
